Myra VCC 2007

Every winemaker relishes the opportunity to blend different varieties and to explore new flavour profiles. Creating this wine called Myra gave us the opportunity to capture the essence of the three white wine varieties planted to Welbedacht and of a Lady we all adore. Viognier, Chenin Blanc, from 40year old bush vines, and Chardonnay were hand selected in the vineyard, whole bunch pressed to insure only the finest quality juice and fermented in 500l French oak barrels to preserve each cultivars varietal flavours while gaining complexity from the oak. The final blend consists of 50%Viognier, 40%Chenin Blanc and 10%Chardonnay and truly reflects the exciting aromatics of Viognier, the purity and unpretentiousness of Chenin Blanc and the power and elegance of Chardonnay. A tribute to our first Lady, Myra Burger.

Each variety plays its part in showcasing the unique charateristics that this wine has to offer. The nose has all the perfume and froral notes from the Viognier, with concentrated aromas of orange blossom, apricot, white peach, litchi and white pepper and nuances of honey suckle, dried peaches, zesty citrus and nuts. The palate has a mouth coating syrup like tropical richness with vibrant acidity and lingering taste of caramilised orange.
